Practice Approaches

I have 30 years of clinical experience with very extensive training including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and hypnosis. This training includes clinical supervision and case consultation with Judith Beck, PhD, of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Although there is a very strong emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I will typically utilize a combination of various approaches in working to provide the most effective treatment.

EMDR has been proven to be highly effective with a variety of problem areas and is a frequently sought treatment modality. Over the past 16 years, I have had very positive outcomes utilizing EMDR in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, and areas where individuals feel stuck. However, EMDR will only be utilized when deemed appropriate, when mutually agreed upon, and after a full assessment has been completed.

My education includes a Masters of Social Work from Marywood University and Bachelors of Social Work from Shippensburg University.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the State of Pennsylvania, and have held a Social Work license in Pennsylvania for the past 27 years.

In addition, I had the honor of being appointed by Governor Tom Ridge to serve on the PA State Board of Social Workers, Professional Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapist Licensing Board as a Professional MemberĀ of the Board for the maximum allowed two terms totaling 8 years.

I am also a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Academy of Certified Clinical Social Workers.
